Program 1 of 7

Sanitation and Hygiene

Healthy homes start with clean hands and safe toilets.

Our objective

Improve health outcomes by promoting good sanitation and hygiene practices in rural communities.

Why it matters

Sanitation and hygiene are critical issues in rural Uganda, where access to clean water, toilets and proper waste management is often limited. Basu's program works to improve sanitation facilities and to educate community members about hygiene practices.

What the program includes

  1. Promoting access to clean water

Basu works to improve access to safe, clean water through the installation of water sources, filtration systems and boreholes. Safe water is essential for preventing waterborne diseases that disproportionately affect women and children.

  2. Building sanitation facilities

We support the construction of latrines and proper waste disposal systems, especially in areas that lack basic infrastructure. This prevents the spread of disease and improves overall health.

  3. Health and hygiene education

We educate communities, especially women and children, on handwashing, menstrual hygiene management and waste disposal. Helping families understand why hygiene matters reduces preventable disease and improves quality of life.

Come and be part of it.
